What to
see: Prague
is a whole of monuments of the most different artistic styles, above
all there is the Castle
of Prague, a building with an evocative and really
intense character. Central area can be divided in 7 zones: Hradcany
and Mala Strana (Little Quarter) in the west from north to south,
Smichov in the east from north to south, Josefov, Stare Mesto (Old
City), Nove Mesto (New City) and Vysehrad. The east and west zones
are separated by Moldava river. The beauty of the city can be
already appreciated visiting
the Karlúv
Most (Charles Bridge), a frame which links up the two
banks of the Moldava. This bridge, 520 metres long, was built in 1357 by the Emperor Charles’ IV will and
it looks like a real art gallery in the open: 30 statues are placed
along the bridge. The fairy Tyn
Cathedral is a fantastic architecture with a placed
in the middle of two towers. The interior is with a nave and two
side aisles, full of gothic and baroque furniture.
How to
get there: Plane is the better way to reach the city, served by
Letiste airport, placed 20 km north-west the city centre. Czech
national airline company, the CSA, organizes flights from the main
European cities and vice versa. The Bohemian capital can be
obviously reached by train: Hlavnì Nàdràzì and Praha Holesovice
are the railway stations of reference. We point out also direct
railway links with Munich and Vienna, therefore it is possible to
make an intermediate stop in these cities and then to travel by
train.
How to
go round: We
suggest you to go for a long walk in the city centre in order to be
engrossed into the intense and suggestive character of Prague.
Underground is a good compromise for long transfers, it is divided
in 3 lines: A, B and C , it is efficient and modern enough as the
same for buses which have a widespread city cover. We advise you to
transparency of local taxi drivers and we beg you to check first
price list which every taxi driver must have and to compare it to
the compulsory receipt of taximeter. Tourist can go also to the Info
Taxi, an information centre allowed to give this kind of information.
Entertainments: In Prague you can find
side by side architectural beauties and a night life full of plenty
of things to do. In secondary city streets there are a lot of
discotheques, disco pubs and private clubs where to spend funny
nights at low costs. For more peaceful entertainments you can go to
shows, operas and concerts into the different theatres of the city.
